Making Sense of Math Grades 3-5: An insight to your child’s math class & how to help at home! On the Trail To Success

Problem Solving Block: Thirty minutes of your student’s math time is dedicated to problem solving. Students work through a “solo” time. This is when they find that PRODUCTIVE struggle. They are building up their stamina of what to do when they become “stuck”. Students then have time to collaborate with a partner/group to listen to what others have done to solve the problem and share out what they did to solve. Teacher wraps up with student led discussions on how the problem is solved, and students are given time for reflection.
