What is Digital Measures? ABOUT DM: Highly customizable web-based system Collects and reports faculty activities & accomplishments in an easy to use digital format Enter data ONCE, use it MANY times: Reduce faculty time to manage/report activities (Vita, Annual Report, PTE Portfolio) Improve unit ability to respond to data requests Ensure data accuracy and completeness Over 2,000 institutions use Digital Measures (more than 50 campus wide) Login: https://www.digitalmeasures.com/login/ndsu/faculty https://www.ndsu.edu/digitalmeasures/

Pre-loaded Data Notes Pre-loaded Data: includes such as advising, thesis/dissertation committee member or chair, courses taught, SROIs). Verify Pre-loaded Data: be sure to check your pre- loaded information for accuracy Course Records: course data has been assigned to all “instructors of record” (i.e., instructors who are officially listed on course records) Class Headcounts: Digital Measures uses institutional data to track class headcounts. Number of Advisees: advisees are counted toward faculty members serving as their official advisor (i.e., PeopleSoft-identified).

Using Digital Measures Manage your activities Screens where you enter & review data that has been entered Rapid Reports Create and print reports Run Reports Create custom reports, print reports PasteBoard Copy + paste data from Word, Excel, PDF, HTML, text files, navigate to other screens and data will stay in pasteboard

Adding/editing/duplicating /deleting entries Manage Records Delete Duplicate View/Edit Import Tool (only used in Published Work screen) Add New Item Record Owner - check the far left drop-down list "People at North Dakota State University“ Activity Dates Always include a dates for each record (i.e., 2017) Add NDSU Contributors/PI: Select their name from the far left drop down list “People at NDSU” Add Non-NDSU Contributors/PI: Type their name in the far right name fields (First Name, Middle, Last Name). Sort Order of Contributors/PI: Use the arrows on the far right of the Contributors section to re- order list of contributors Edit/Removed Record Entered by Another User: You CAN edit or remove records entered by someone else, see instructions

Creating PTE Portfolio in DM STEP 1: Screen: Promotion and Tenure Add New Item Academic Year: 2017-2018 Add text/comments to sections Attach files (appointment letter, reviews, etc.) STEP 2: Rapid Reports  Promotion and Tenure Portfolio Indicate Start Date and End Date Use File Format: Word DM will pull activity data for each section of the portfolio AND other DM screens

Key Notes Verify Preloaded data + Manual data entry Check imported data from Google Scholar Peer-Reviewed Articles Ensure to manually indicate journal articles as “Yes” peer- reviewed in “Published Work” screen Published Work: Always indicate the status of each publication (i.e., Accepted, Submitted, or Published) this will ensure the publication displays in your reports Google Scholar Directly import your publications stored in another software system such rom Crossref or PubMed. Other reference managers or databases such as EndNote, Google Scholar, Mendeley, RefWorks, Scopus, Web of Science and Zotero enable you to select publications and export them into a BibTeX file.
