What are microbes?

Microbes… Are living things that are so small that you have to use a microscope to see them. Are the oldest Earth form of life

Where do microbes live? Microbes live in the air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink, and they live on your skin and inside your bodies.

Microbes live everywhere!

Microbes have good effects and bad effects on humans. They can help us or make us terribly sick. Good Microbes Bad Microbes

Positive and Negative Effects:

How to avoid and treat negative effects… Wash your hands and keep clean Wash your fruit before you eat it Don’t touch everything you see in public Don’t sneeze into your hands Don’t share drinks and food with others Don’t eat raw meat or eggs

Some main positive effects microbes have on food are … Helps preserve food Helps bring nutrients to food Has probiotics that can help digestion Helps ferment food

Effects on food:

Fun Fact Microbes eat away pollution and produces over half the oxygen we breathe.
