Projects 2 05/05/11

Designing possible solutions Several different solutions may be required. Target audience, time frames and resources need to be considered. The criteria for satisfactorily solving the problem need to be written down.

2. Generating Ideas Coming up with ideas is creative and spontaneous process called ‘brainstorming’ Ideas need to be documented using a concept map such as Inspiration Researching existing solutions using Google or other resources can provide new ideas

3. Design Techniques Storyboards can be used for the design of web pages or multimedia such as videos A prototype (a simple or rough version) can be produced. The operation of the prototype can be observed. Feedback can be obtained from the users in case the design criteria needs to be changed. For software solutions an IPO (Input, Process, Output) table may be useful

Class Task IPO table: Design an IPO table for the operation of a Walk/Don’t Walk pedestrian signalling system. Determine whether the following are inputs, outputs or processes and place them in the correct order (red light on, idle, press walk button, walk timer, fast beep, wait, green light on, slow beep) Input Process Outputs
