Indoor Location Accuracy NPRM FCC Third Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Wireless E911 Location Accuracy, PS Docket 07-114 Released February 21, 2014 Published in Federal Register March 28, 2014 Comments due May 12, 2014; Replies due June 11, 2014 NPRM Proposes Near-Term and Long-Term Indoor Location Accuracy Metrics 50 meter horizontal axis accuracy for 67% of 911 indoor calls within 2 years of rule adoption, increasing to 80% at 5 years 3 meter vertical axis accuracy for 67% of 911 indoor calls within 2 years of rule adoption, increasing to 80% at 5 years Comments also sought on speed to generate location fix, reporting requirements, complaint process, etc.  

Indoor Location Accuracy NPRM Propose that NPSTC Develop Comments which: Note potential application of indoor location technology also in locating firefighters, law enforcement and EMS personnel; Support the inclusion of vertical axis as well as horizontal axis location metrics; and Encourage continued FCC focus on, and industry development of, technology that improves location accuracy
