Water Chemistry training Part 3 Blanacers

Why do we use Blanacers? Alkalinity Increaser- When total alkalinity (TA) is within recommended range, it acts as a buffer and prevents rapid pH change, stabilizing the pH levels to prevent etching or corrosion of the pool and/or equipment. Calcium Increaser- When pool water is too soft from low calcium, the water tries to harden itself by pulling calcium from the pool walls and surfaces. This causes etching, and if left unattended, can destroy your pool. Water Conditioner (stabilizer/Cyanuric Acid)- Cyanuric acid, and other stabilizers, are used to prevent the loss of chlorine in your pool, by protecting free chlorine from being destroyed by the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.

What do we carry? Alkalinity Increaser Calcium Increaser Water Conditioner (stabilizer/cyanuric acid)

When do we use them? When water tests are outside normal/recommended ranges: Recommended total alkalinity levels- (between 80 – 120ppm) Recommended calcium levels- (between 200 – 400ppm) Recommended cyanuric acid levels- (between 50 – 80ppm)

How do we put them into the pool? Alkalinity Increaser- Broadcast by shaking or sprinkling along perimeter of deep end of pool, brushing any materials that settle. Calcium Increaser- Pour a few pounds of calcium increaser into a bucket of water, mixing until solution is completely dissolved. Pouring solution into pool along the perimeter, and repeating this until the proper dosage is achieved. Cyanuric Acid (CYA)- Ensure the pool skimmer is ON. Pour appropriate amount of (CYA) directly into the skimmer in small amounts, as (CYA) takes some time to dissolve and might clog up the pump if added too heavily at once.

Congratulations!!! YOU DID IT!!!!!
