Book Report on “Wonder” Written By, Abrianna

Characters August is the main character in “Wonder”. August loves “Star Wars”. Some other people in the story say August has a “deformed” face. August is 10 years old and is starting 5th grade in Beecher Prep. Many other characters in the story call him by his nickname “Auggie”. August

Characters Jack Will Jack Will is one of the kids that gives a tour of Beecher Prep to Auggie. Mr.Tushman told Jack to hang out with August, but August and Jack become best friends (along with Summer). Jack has blond hair and an athletic body.

Characters Summer Summer meets August on the first day of school at lunch. They make a “summer name table only”, so you had to have some sort of summer related name to sit there. August made an exception for Jake by saying it could be,”Jake “will” go to the beach”. Summer and Auggie become best friends(along with Jake). Summer has brown curly hair and a sweet face.

Characters Julian Julian is another kid that gives August the tour(along with Charlotte who isn’t in the story often). Julian would be the antagonist because he bullies August by starting the “plague” which is where if someone touched him they would get his “disease”. Also later in the story he bullies Jack by starting a “war” where Jack would find notes in his locker saying “Why do you hang out with that kid” and others notes saying things like that. At the end of the story Julian leaves Beecher Prep.

Characters Via (olivia) Via is August’s older sister that is just starting high school. She is very protective of her little brother and will get mad at anyone who stares. Via gets a boyfriend named Justin in the middle of the story. She has long beautiful brown hair and a very pretty face. Justin has dark black hair and round glasses.

Miranda gave me this!!!;) Characters Miranda Miranda is a big part of Auggie’s life. When Auggie was little she gave him an astronaut helmet he wore for five years. She is also one of Via’s best friends. Miranda stops being Via’s friend most of the year because when she goes to summer camp the kids at the summer camp changed her this rude popular girl. But at the end of the story Via and Miranda become friends again. Miranda has pink highlights in her hair.

Characters Mr.Tushman and Auggie’s Parents Mr.Tushman is the principal of Beecher Prep and helps Auggie get through the challenging year of 5th Grade. At the end of the story Mr.Tushman rewards Auggie with the Henry Ward Beecher Award. Auggie’s parents are very protective of him(much like Via) at first Auggies mom wanted Auggie to go to school and his dad didn’t want him to go to school but then they both changed sides. Auggie ended up going to 5th Grade at Beecher Prep and loved it.

Courage, Kindness, Friendship, and Character Protagonist The protagonist in this story would be August. In the beginning of the story August was scared of being bullied or stared at Beecher Prep. But through people looking up for August and people bulling August he didn’t care what people thought he looked like anymore. He thought it mattered if he looked normal at first but realized there will always be mean and hurtful people in the world, but there would also always be people that would look out for him and be his friend. At the end of the story Auggie gets awarded the Courage, Kindness, Friendship, and Character Award.

Settings The main setting in “Wonder” is Beecher Prep because, that is where most of the characters go to school. Another big setting is the house Auggie and Via live in with their dog daisy and their parents.

Plot Map Conflict: August doesn’t want to go Beecher Prep because he doesn’t want to be stared at or bullied. 1:August takes a tour of Beecher Prep from Jake Will, Charlotte, Julian. 2:August becomes friends with Jake. 3:August meets Summer at lunch and become very good friends. 4:August get ready for Halloween and puts his Bleeding Scream costume on.

Plot Map 5:August overhears Jake talking with Julian and some other boys saying if he were August he would put a mask on or kill himself. 6:Jake finds out August overheard and apologizes and explains he was only trying to keep a good reputation with Julian. 7:At the nature retreat some 7th graders from a different school bully August about his face

Plot Map 8:Amos, Miles, and Henry find August and Jake in the forest getting bullied by the 7th graders and stands up for them. 9.Julian bullies Jack by putting notes in his lockers. 10:August finds out Julian isn’t coming back to Beecher Prep next year. 11:August wins the Courages, Kindness, Friendship, and Character Award Resolution:August finds out there will always be mean people in the world but there will also always be people that will look out for August like Amos, Miles, and Henry did at the nature retreat.

Some of my Favorite Parts Quack!!! Some of my Favorite Parts One of my very favorite part is where August gets called to Mr.Tushman’s office. August notices that the self portrait of Mr.Tushman(August thought it looked like a pumpkin) was gone and his self portrait of a duck was there. Mr.Tushman then asked if he made a duck because of the story of the duckling that turned into a swan. But August said it wasn’t that but that he just thought he looked like a duck!
