“What Makes An Expository Essay?” Scavenger Hunt Let’s hunt down the elements discussed within the "Friends" text. Using highlighters, pens, and pencils, we will create an annotated paper, which shows how the author incorporates all the elements of an expository essay. Circle the hook – What sentence in the introduction grabbed your attention? Underline = Thesis Statement – What sentence shows what the author believes about having a friend in your life?
