Tuesday January 17, 2012 Objective: You will know that the water cycle moves water from Earth’s surface, up to the atmosphere, and back down again.

Drawing the Water Cycle Your task is to draw the water cycle. There are many different ways to do this. The following slides will show you a few of the ways the water cycle can be drawn. Pick the one that works best for you, or come up with your own idea. I will give you a list of terms that must be included in your drawing. Your drawing must be in color.

Terms to Include Energy From Sun Evaporation Transpiration Condensation Precipitation Runoff Groundwater Water Storage Along with using these terms in your drawing, you must also define them on the backside of your paper.

Definitions Energy From the Sun- The heat from the sun allows water to evaporate Evaporation- when a liquid changes to a gas Transpiration- The evaporation of water from plants Condensation- when a gas changes to a liquid Precipitation- Water that falls back to Earth from the atmosphere (rain, snow, sleet, hail) Runoff- water from precipitation that flows over Earth’s surface Water Storage- places on Earth’s surface where water collects Groundwater- water that flows or is stored under the Earth’s surface
