Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News Week of September 29, 2017 This week’s theme: Friends help each other in different ways. ELA Our trade book for the week was Oscar Is Cold by Ricardo Alcantara. Through the story and our discussions we discovered different ways we can help a friend. Our vocabulary words for the week were: class, give, help, listen, school and share. Math We are still exploring the idea of sorting objects that are the same or different. Science This week in science we have begun to talk about fall and how the leaves will soon be changing color and falling off the tree. It is hard for the children to understand that fall has begun given the oppressive hot humid weather we have had the past two weeks! We will be talking about it in more depth next week when it actually feels like fall!  Social Studies We discussed ways in which people are the same and different. For example, some of us wear glasses, have brown hair, etc. The children read a mini book about two girls that were the same in some ways. In the story the girls had the same shoes and the same face so the children colored the same items yellow. They used other colors to show objects that were different. Handwriting Our letter of the week is letter F. We have been practicing writing the letter F as well as thinking of words that start with the /f/ sound. News & Reminders October 6th is a half day of school. Dismissal is at 11:20am at the playground doors. Please send in a healthy snack. If your child is bringing in lunch because they will be attending EDP or going somewhere after dismissal, please let me know so you don’t get a phone call. If I see a child has a lunch I will call home to remind you of the early dismissal, thinking you forgot!
