WELCOME to 3rd Grade

Class Schedule School Hours 8:10-3:25 8:00-8:15 Arrive to school/Announcements 8:15-9:15 Reading 9:15-10:15 Writing 10:15-11:00 Science 11:00-11:30 Social Studies 11:30-12:00 Recess 12:00-12:30 Lunch 12:30-1:05 PRIDE time 1:05-1:50 Outclass 1:50-3:10 Math 3:10-3:25 Health

Curriculum & Grading English Language Arts (ELA) – 12 grades Reading – 12 grades Math – 12 grades Science/Social Studies/Health – 9 grades for Science & 9 for Social Studies, 3 grades for Health (letter grades) *First nine weeks has 10 grades (ELA and Math) due to shorter time frame

Progress Reports Students in third grade will only receive a progress report if they are scoring a 70 or below in any subject. The district wishes for all families to join Family Access (located on fortbendisd.com). Family Access is a secure way for parents/guardians to view grades 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This will keep surprises to a minimum.

Dress Code Shorts – not too short Skirts – not too short Spaghetti Straps – no spaghetti straps Shoes – no flip flops or crocs

Lunch & Birthdays Lunch visits with your child only Invitations – bring for all in class or all boys or all girls Treats – Store purchased desserts may be brought to school to be distributed to the class in the classroom following lunch. Please provide napkins. Snack Policy – nutritious, no chips, cookies, pudding, should not require utensils, etc.

Transportation Rainy Day Dismissal – if your child is a walker or bike rider, have a plan on who will pick them up on a rainy day If transportation changes for the day, the child must have a note. DO NOT SEND IN EMAIL. Please do not email a transportation note because the teacher may not see it if there is a substitute in the classroom. (email to office is fine)

3rd Grade Responsibilities Writing assignments in Agenda Writing on Notebook paper Reading Logs Practice math facts – add/subtract/multiplication/division Homework – child must be able to turn it in by themselves IAN- take interactive notebook home and bring back following day First time for major tests Math STAAR Reading STAAR

Parent Conferences Thursday October 19, 1:00-5:00 We will meet once in the Fall and once in the Spring (struggling students will have priority) Make sure to sign up for a time slot. I will use sign-up Genius to sign up. (sent in email)
