Questions to Ponder How do I earn a High School Credit? What happens if I fail a class? How many credits do I need to graduate with a SOTA diploma? How many credits do I need in each subject (English, Social Studies, Math, Science, PE, LOTE, Health and Arts) in order to graduate? What is the minimum score required to pass a regents exam? Which Regents exams are required in order to graduate? What types of Diplomas are offered? What things do colleges look for in high school students? What is a high school transcript? What is it used for? How can I get involved in activities in high school? Who can I go to in school if I need help?

How do I earn a high school credit? Pass the class with at least a 65 average 65 = D If final average falls below a 65, student must attend summer school to make-up credit If student does not pass summer school or chooses not to attend he/she must repeat the class the next school year

How do I determine how much credit a class is worth? Class Meets: Schedule Meeting Pattern: Credit: 1 period every day, all year FY 1ABCD 1 credit 1 period every other day, all year FY 1AC .5 credit half the year S1 1ABCD 2 periods every other day, all year FY 3AC/4AC 2 periods every other day, half the year S1 3AC/4AC

Credits Required for Graduation Students must earn 25.5 credits to receive a SOTA diploma For a RCSD diploma, students must earn 22 credits must meet same core academic requirements as SOTA diploma 4 English 4 Social Studies 3 Math 3 Science 8 Arts 1 LOTE (Languages Other Than English) 2 Physical Education ½ Health

Diploma Types ~ Regents Diploma All students who started 9th grade in September 2008 and beyond must meet Regents diploma standards: 65+ on the following 5 exams… 1 English Regents exam 1 Math Regents exam 1 Science Regents exam 1 Social Studies Regents exam 1 Additional Regents exam

Diploma Types ~ Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation Must meet Regents diploma requirements, including also passing the following five exams: Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II Language Checkpoint B** **Exemption if completion of 5 credit sequence in fine arts 2nd Science Regents exam 1 exam must be Living Environment

Diploma Types ~ Mastery in Math & Science Regents with Advanced Designation with an annotation that denotes… Mastery in Math Score 85+ on THREE Math Regents Exams Mastery in Science Score 85+ on THREE Science Regents Exams

Diploma Types ~ Regents Diploma w/Advanced Designation w/Honors or Regents w/Honors Must meet the requirements for the diploma and achieve an average score of 90+ on the required exams
