drip drip drip went the tap ring ring ring went the phone onomatopoeia Description Onomatopoeia is using words for sounds commonly used in comic books, graphic novels, old tv shows, novels and fiction stories. onomatopoeia is originally A greek word which mean sound by text and in greek onomatopoeia is spelt ὀνοματοποιί. e.g Boom, pow, bang, drip ring drip drip drip went the tap ring ring ring went the phone boom went the bomb bang went the gun

idioms Idioms sentences or phrases that are used in a non literally sense. Smart idioms are also known as sayings. idiom is a greek word spelt ἰδίωμα e.g penny for your thoughts at the drop of a hat it cost an arm and a leg barking up the wrong tree I smell smoke they must be fire

metaphor A metaphor is a sentence or phrase that is comparing 1 thing to another without use”like” or “as”. if someone is special you can say they are a gem or a diamond it could also mean that they are expensive. Metaphors are also of greek origin it is spelt μεταφορά and mean to carry over. E.G He drowned in a sea of grief She is fishing in troubled waters Stench of failure Rollercoaster of emotions Inflamed your temper Feeling blue Bubbly personality

Conjunctions. A conjunction is a word that connects clauses or sentences. For example, the kid wanted to play on the XBox BUT he had to do his homework. Here are some conjunctions: And, but, or, nor, for, yet, so. Those are just the basics. There are different types of conjunctions. There are coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions and correlative conjunctions.

Pronouns A pronoun is a word that describes a person, a place or a thing without using its proper name. Here are some pronouns: Personal pronouns: I,he,she,it,they,we,you,me,him,her,it,them. Here are some sentences with pronouns in them. He and I had a fight. I owe that person 9.999.99.99.9. She is stealing that bike. I really like them.

Base Form The base form of a verb is the simplest form without a special ending. E.G. Worked, working and the base form is work. Here are some sentences. I have been working all week. The base form of that is work. I am playing rugby on saturday. The base form of playing is play.

verbs A verb is an action or movement that can be performed or done. There are many different kinds of verbs - interacting verbs, linking verbs, transitive verbs, and to be verbs. Verbs are latin and in latin it is spelt verbum and means part of speech

adjectives adjectives are describing word that describes a person, a place or a thing. Adjective comes from Latin nōmen which means additional noun. adjective can be use in lots of way E .G Attributive adjectives, Predicative adjective, Nominal adjectives

Punctuation punctuation is use to make your writing more interesting and to make it look better and easier to read E.G . a full stop is used to stop or end a sentence.? question marks are use to make a question like what is your name”?” ! equilibration mark is used to make something clear or stand out like look out”!”
