NOVEL DISCOVERY Before you read DIRECTIONS: ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BASED ON YOUR RESEARCH. YOU MAY USE GOOGLE, MAGAZINES, NEWS ARTICLES, TEXTBOOKS, ETC. BE DETAILED IN YOUR ANSWERS. Create a timeline of significant events that took place in the decade the novel was written. For example: the 1920s Write 3 unique facts about the author. What do these facts tell you about the novel? Read 3 book reviews of the novel. What words are used primarily to describe the novel? List one new invention that was created during the time period of the novel. How is the setting of the novel DIFFERENT or THE SAME as our society today? Look up common phrases and language during the time period the novel was written. Write 3 down. How is the language different from today? Which form of music was most common during this time period? Find an example of this type of music and explain whether or not you take interest in this form of music. What literary time period was the novel written? OPINION: Do you think you would enjoy living during this time period? Why or why not?
