Q&A about Science Gateways Roberto Barbera, Univ. of Catania & INFN Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Q: Data Management using SGW - interaction with SE We have a Data Engine service doing this, but compatible only up to version 1.4.22 of the Grid Engine We are working to provide a solution to the incompatibility between the Grid Engine and the framework used by the Data Engine (the same used by Authentication Request Portlet – see slide 4) You can test the Data Engine registering to this SG: http://sgw.garr.it Your feedbacks would be very welcome 2 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Q: Other applications available to deploy Look at the list contained in this brochure: http://ei4africa.eu/files/2014/01/Flyer_eI4africa_Africa-Grid- Science-Gateway_1013.pdf and tell us which applications you’re interested in We will provide you with the corresponding portlet 3 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

So, at the moment we authorize users by hand Q: Portlet to manage authorization (access requests) for users identified through an IDP We have a portlet doing this but we need to fix some library incompatibilities with the latest version of the Grid Engine (see slide 2) So, at the moment we authorize users by hand If needed, we can provide all the templates of the messages we receive from the authorization form and of all the confirmation/deny emails 4 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Q: CP/CPS changes required for MaGridCA after the introduction of Robot Certificates/ e-Tokens Have a look at the CP/CPS document of the INFN CA which already supports robot certificates: http://security.fi.infn.it/CA/CPS/CPS-2.3.1.pdf On request, the CP/CPS document of the INFN CA can be provided both in Word and Open Office format 5 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Q: Using applications on other SGW member of GrIDP You can go to any of the SGs listed here: http://gridp.garr.it/service-providers.html and fill the corresponding authorisation form Of course, it is much easier to deploy the portlet of the application you are interested in inside your SG (see slide 3) 6 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Examples can be provided Q: How we can incorporate and manage different VO's in the SGW with different right access to the applications Appropriate VOMS roles need first to be associated by the VO manager to the robot certificate used by the SG The code of the portlet should call the etokenserver and ask for a VOMS proxy containing the correct extensions Examples can be provided 7 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014

Q: How we can work with the application store and application customization related with scientific workflows The Catania Science Gateway Framework natively supports Parametric Jobs and Job Collections More complex workflows can be defined but there is no workflow editor available This is due to the fact that Science Gateways forbid users to upload their executables since robot certificates are used instead of personal ones 8 Science Gateway webmeeting, 20 February 2014
