How to reduce stress and nervousness before an interview It’s common that you could feel nervous or stressed before an interview. There are some simple things that you can do to calm yourself down before you enter the interviewer’s office with confidence and authority. . Marketing Me

How to reduce stress and nervousness before an interview . The morning before the interview: Wake up early, prepare yourself for the day You can try listening to music, to calm your nerves and boost your confidence. Do some stretches to get your blood flowing. Marketing Me

Reducing Nerves - When you get there Turn off your mobile phone, you don’t want to be getting incoming calls while waiting to enter the interview, it will only make you more nervous and stressed out. Go to the restroom beforehand.  Make sure you won’t have to excuse yourself mid-interview to do so.  While you’re there, take some deep breaths, fix your hair if need be, and women can reapply (subtle) makeup   Don’t go for a smoke before the interview, as it will only make you more nervous and the smell will stick to your clothes. You can’t smell it but the interviewer can! Marketing Me

Reducing Nerves - When you get there Bring a bottle of water in your bag, so you don’t get a dry mouth. Take small sips and breathe slowly. But don’t bring the bottle it into the interview.   Smile.  Smiling releases tension in your muscles and changes your mental perspective into a more positive outlook.  It will make you look and feel more confident.  Plus, a returned smile will ease anxiousness Anticipate the best, not the worst.  Many peoples’ nervousness comes from the fear of the unknown or fearing the worst-case scenario, so be positive and think of the best. Positive affirmations: That job has my name on it! Or I’m going to ace the interview! Marketing Me

On the Day of the Interview Be early. Arrive 5 – 10 minutes. Smile and be polite to the receptionist. Turn your mobile off so it doesn’t ring during your meeting. Look the part. Your clothing should be neat, pressed, and clean. Clean your shoes. Take care with your personal hygiene – shower, wash hair, clean teeth. Clean breath, not too much perfume or aftershave. Use deodorant. Bring a copy of your resume

That job has my name on it! When you get there Positive affirmations: That job has my name on it! Or I’m going to ace the interview! Marketing Me

Smile, relax and be friendly Shake hands firmly. At the Interview Smile, relax and be friendly Shake hands firmly. Maintain good eye contact when speaking to the interviewer or when the interviewer is speaking. Wait until you are offered a chair before sitting. Look alert and interested, this reflects energy and enthusiasm. Be a good listener, this shows respect. Wait until your interview has stopped talking before you respond. Marketing Me

At the Interview Good luck! Think positive and feel confident about yourself. Thank the interviewer at the end of the interview. Keep this in mind: Every interview is a valuable learning experience. Even if you don’t get this particular job, when the next interview rolls around, you’ll be much better prepared and more at ease with the whole process. All of which can go a long way to boosting your confidence and improving your chances of being offered the next job. Good luck! Marketing Me
