The EBP Knowledge Hub: The EBP Knowledge Hub was set up in February 2017 to develop, disseminate and implement evidence based practice. The Knowledge Hub is based at Police HQ and consists of a Chief Inspector, Co-ordinator, Researcher and Income Generation Officer. Chief Inspector: liaison with Chief Officers and external agencies involved in EBP. He provides directorship and has conducted his own empirical research that has paved the way to bringing EBP into fruition on Merseyside Co-ordinator: acts as a multi-faceted transposition point both into the Force via requests for police data or assistance with research from Universities and out of the Force via Force students obtaining their higher education qualifications. The Co-ordinator is also responsible for maintaining a database of all police related research conducted by police officers and staff, which will soon be available on the force intranet Strategic Researcher: works to translate empirical findings from academic research into digestible, meaningful content which contributes to suggestions for policy improvement. Additionally aims to create a Force programme for non-police students to be picked to conduct bespoke research projects specifically catered to the needs of the Force Income Generation Officer: scopes arenas for potential sources of financial income and subsequently constructs practical methods for obtaining such. This is achieved by liaising with internal bodies and external partners to seek innovative but appropriate pathways to ensure a financial equilibrium is maintained for the Force.

Development of research repository – focus on force risk & priorities

Evidence Based Practice Partnership Steering Group Scan developments in evidence based practice nationally and regionally Identify and prioritise subjects to commission for academic research Nominate internal sponsors for projects to assist students to understand the issues Monitor progress of research projects, ensuring the organisation is capturing the learning from them Link research topics to ensure research is fit for purpose Ensure an internal ‘What Works’ database is maintained and developed
