Hand-Cranked Electric Generator By Benjamin Carney November 29, 2017 Introduction to the Sciences

Can you light a light bulb with a hand-cranked generator?

How many volts can you get from a hand-cranked generator?

Reasons I chose this experiment If no electricity what would you do? What are other possible uses for this?

Equipment Needed Portable drill Alligator clips with wires (and multimeter) Zip ties Wooden board 1 mixer beater 1 wooden spoon (and tape) 1 LED light bulb

How To Step 1: attach drill to board with zip ties Step 1b: Compress the trigger and secure Step 2: put mixer beater in drill Step 3: put wooden spoon in beater and secure Step 4: attach wires to drill Step 5: attach wires to light bulb Step 6: crank and watch it light up

Demonstration

Results The bulb lights up Achieved 5 volts DC

Summary If you find yourself in a pinch you can make a hand-cranked electrical generator
