HUNNYJOHN PRODUCTIONS JOHN SMITH PRESS RELEASE 15 August 2014 The 'Let 'Em All Come Exhibition of WW1 Images at the Ripper Hall in Docking has been enlarged to include the story of the first Zeppelin attack on Britain when Zeppelin L3 attacked Great Yarmouth and L4 attacked the North Norfolk coast before turning south to bomb Heacham, Snettisham and King's Lynn on the night of the 19th January 1915. The first occasion enemy bombs were dropped on Britain – an attack which resulted in the first four deaths from bombs dropped by Zeppelins - two victims in Great Yarmouth and two in King's Lynn. The display includes the detonator cap of the one bomb dropped on Hunstanton which fell close to Hunstanton Lighthouse and fortunately did not explode.

The exhibition also includes a major display of the Lovat Scouts visit to Hunstanton, when they came to protect the North-West Norfolk coastline and to train for their next mission in Gallipoli. Training which included building an elaborate systems of trenches at Docking, which are being restored. Photographs include a picture and the story of Simon 'Shimi' Lovat, in Hunstanton, who became one of the great heroes of the WW2 D-Day landings on Sword Beach when he crossed the beach with his personal piper leading the commando assault. Other exhibits tell the story of how the English sense of humour maintained the morale of the troops on the Western Front and on the home front. The exhibition is open every Friday / Saturday/ Sunday / Monday at Docking Ripper Hall from 10am to 4pm throughout August and will end on the 1st September. A special day with free entrance to all Royal British Legion members will open at 11.00am on Saturday 23rd August when members will have the chance to meet their Nation Chairman – John Crisford – and one of the RBL Trustees – Lieut-Col.
