HOSA Meeting November 14th, 2017

Welcome to the November HOSA meeting! Please find an available seat!! ***PLEASE LEAVE BACK TWO ROWS EMPTY FOR FRESHMEN WHO WILL COME IN LATE AS WELL AS PEOPLE WHO NEED TO LEAVE TO CATCH THE BUS!!!! Make sure to scan into the QR code at the end of the meeting We will start shortly!

November Collection Items New or gently used children’s books All books will be given to a child in need right here in Allen! Accepting donations in all health science classes (K-Hall) until this Thursday, the 16th @4PM Put all books with note with NAME AND GRADE INSIDE THE BAG. Collection items are NOT MANDATORY, but they give local children, books for the holidays 4 points each for book (maximum of 20 points)

T-SHIRTS ARE HERE!!! We have T-Shirts organized by last name Find your the table with your last name and stand in that line Pick yours up AFTER THE MEETING as you leave! If you are unable to pick your shirt today… pick yours up in one of the health science rooms THIS WEEK. By the way, the shirts might shrink so be careful!!

Online Testing for competition ATTENTION Online Testers! Online Testing will be held on November 30th. This is required for most events. Check your guidelines to see if you do or do not have an online test. YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR AN ONLINE TESTING SLOT BY NOVEMBER 30th 1st/8th Period: 30 slots for 1 hours 5th/6th/7th Periods: 40 slots for 45 minutes, 30 start at the beginning of the period and 10 start halfway through. First come, first serve PLEASE MEET US AFTER THE MEETING IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THESE TIMES

Competition Rules and Regulations Team events MUST TEST AT THE SAME TIME BUT SIGN UP INDIVIDUALLY Students in Medical Terminology (AT AHS ONLY) & Principles of Health Science will be able to take the test when you have the class You must still sign up for a slot during your class period If you have a privilege period during 5th, 6th, or 7th, please take it during that time to free up 1st and 8th period slots, as those will be more in demand. What to bring: School ID Competition guidelines (on HOSA website): can be printed off or shown on phone when signing into testing room Make sure you know how much time you have for your event Remember that it is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30th (B-day)

Small Groups Small Groups Competition Small Groups Service We will be hosting our first meeting AFTER online testing mainly for those who are in need of equipments or public practice - WE’LL SEND OUT A REMIND!!! The HOSA website will have a tab with study advice for online competitors as well as a mass quizlet for you to find your designated competition and study (not required, but recommended!) Please contact Andrew Swenson or Theo Destain if you cannot find your competition. Small Groups Service Do not rely on this for service hours this semester (A.K.A. the deadline for NHS hours Dec. 6) With 100% certainty, we will have them next semester multiple times so stay on the lookout!

Picture Day! We will be taking yearbook pictures! Come to the PAC Commons on Wednesday Nov. 15th from 4:10pm - 4:25pm Wear your new HOSA shirt!

To sum it all up... Get on the link and sign up for a time IF you are doing online testing Pick up your t-shirts either AFTER THE MEETING or in one of the HEALTH SCIENCE ROOMS THIS WEEK!!! Small groups will be starting JANUARY with POINT and SERVICE HOUR incentive!!! DO NOT FORGET about the TAFE Book Drive*! Books are due by Thursday, November 16th by 4:00 PM!!!!!! (NO EXCEPTIONS) *4 points per book with a max of 20 points (but feel free to bring in more for the sake of it!)
