democracy A system of government in which the whole population of a state or country is represented (usually through elected representatives) Ex. Ghana

monarchy A government with a crowned head of state such as a king, queen, or emperor Ex. Morocco

Oligarchy A small group of people having control of a country or state Ex. South Africa

Military state A government in which the economy is supported by armed forces; most taxes go to funding the military

dictatorship A government ruled by one person or commander who has obtained this rule by force Ex. Zimbabwe
