Why a revised version of the SRA? The Strategic Research Agenda is the backbone of ARTEMIS and must keep the pace with the fast evolution of our surroundings The validity of the SRA 2006 is evident from the early projects of 2008 to 2010 Hence, the SRA 2011 allows us to take into account new trends and the evolution of technology, industry and society We have already an SRA 2006 edition – but since 2006 we intend the SRA to be a living document The white thread that leads our path.

From SRA 2006 to SRA 2011 … the move Technical Societal Impact of open networks: Embedded Systems become the Neural System of Society European Competitiveness: Societal Challenges drive the R&D strategy a) While SRA 2006 prediction has proven correct, the impact of networking ES provides new opportunities b) More and more smart solutions for key societal challenges: healthcare, transportation, cities, ….

Make it happen The differentiators Working Group Centres of Innovation Excellence The scope of a CoIE is that of a coherent subspace of an application domain of the ARTEMIS SRA. It creates an Innovation Eco-system for that subspace, taking advantage of the critical mass of competences and resources that have already been organised in its supporting regional clusters [WG] Centres of Innovation Excellence Focus on a small number of systems oriented CoIE of multi-disciplinary nature to pursue implementation of industrial research visions and mobilise critical mass Continue to build on regional clusters to integrated them to ARTEMIS innovation environment Facilitate the transformation of research results into industrial development
