Educational Overview Goals Master basic single-injection and continuous peripheral nerve block techniques Gain experience managing continuous perineural infusions for inpatients and outpatients, as well adjunct analgesic medications Learn to apply regional anesthesia techniques in a variety of surgical settings including trauma, elective outpatient and more invasive orthopedics, vascular surgery, abdominal and pelvic procedures, head and neck surgery, and plastic/reconstructive surgery
Educational Overview Clinical Experience Evaluate patients for regional anesthesia techniques Perform regional anesthesia procedures Follow patients postoperatively Fellows spend one day per week in the OR either supervising residents or providing direct patient care as staff anesthesiologists Fellows may also take OR or OB call based on availability All other clinical time is spent either directly administering or teaching residents how to perform regional blocks
Educational Overview Each fellow will spend approximately 10 months managing the regional service at Hillcrest, Thornton /Sulpizio Medical Center and Jacobs. The patient population consists of Orthopedic, Oncologic, Plastic, Cardiovascular, Thoracic, General Surgical, and Gynecologic Patients. Optional one month elective can be done in the field of pediatrics or chronic pain or by completing original research. Individualized elective may also be developed by the fellow with approval by the Fellowship Director. Fellows are expected to complete an academic project or QI project during their fellowship
