The mmW5G workshop at WCNC Organised by https://5g-mmmagic.eu
Project Overview Co-funded by Horizon 2020, part of 5G PPP Portfolio Project coordination: Samsung Technical management: Ericsson Project runtime: July 2015 – July 2017 19 partners: Vendors: Samsung, Ericsson, (Alcatel-Lucent), Huawei, Intel, Nokia Operators: Orange, Telefonica Research institutions: CEA-LETI, Fraunhofer HHI, IMDEA Networks Universities: Aalto University, University of Bristol, Chalmers University of Technology, TU Dresden SME: Qamcom Test equipment manufacturers: Keysight Technologies, R&S Advisory Board: ETSI, ANFR, BNetZa, OFCOM, PTS, FICORA, BMW, U. Illemenau, SONY mobile The main objective is to deliver key concepts and components for mobile radio access technology (RAT) in the 6-100 GHz range Spectrum, Use Cases, KPI requirements Multiple channel measurements and channel modelling Architecture components and integration Air interface for access and mm-wave waveform design Multi-node and Multi-antenna Transceiver design
Channel Measurements and Modelling 5G channel model available to public as open source. Compatibility with 3GPP-3D model (calibrated). Check D2.2 for final channel models, meas. Results. Map based modelling Modelled ground reflection BS1 LOS link
Multi-antenna and Multi-node design Multi-element antenna performance (incl. Transmitarray) studied and modelled. These allow directional channel responses with channel model. Hybrid BF analysed in detail for access and relay. Hybrid FSO/mm-wave studied for multi-node solutions. Hardware impairments – the PN model code shared as open source. Look out for D5.2 for the final solutions, impairment models. PSD of carrier phase noise in “low” mode
Mm-wave RAN architecture and waveforms Evaluated 10 waveform candidates against 11 KPIs. Analysis based on both Simulation or analytical approaches. Look out for D4.2 for final comparisons.
