Activity tracker subsidy Fun activity challenges on Fit@SAP Global Program: Run Your Way The Run Your Way program supports and encourages employees – across all generations and physical conditions – to invest in their health and well-being by integrating physical activity in their daily life. Program components and results in 2017*: Activity tracker subsidy Fun activity challenges on Fit@SAP 8’600 9’000+ Activity trackers subsidized by Run Your Way Connected devices on the Fit@SAP activity challenge platform 600 groups and 400 activity challenges have been created by employees and teams. Combining health and competition goals is an excellent approach to motivate people. That is why I really like this initiative! Cristina F. SAP Global Health Management wanted to bring the success of our local program (and other similar pilots) to all employees worldwide, so they launched the Run Your Way program. Turning it into a global program was not a simple feat! In fact, over 30 groups contributed to making Run Your Way a reality, which is a great example of SAP cross-team collaboration and our commitment to the well-being of our people. This new global health program supports and encourages employees – across all generations and physical conditions – to invest in their health and well-being by integrating physical activity into their daily lives, and ultimately develop healthy habits that can mitigate the risks of a sedentary lifestyle. Some key learnings that emerged from the local initiatives showed that employees needed to be continuously engaged and motivated to establish healthy habits. So, the program offers two key elements to successfully help employees integrate regular movement into their daily lives: First, it facilitates access to and regular use of an activity tracker via a subsidy available to all employees worldwide. Second, it provides a fun and engaging global activity challenge platform, called Fit@SAP, that is powered by SAP Cloud Platform. Employees can connect their preferred device (activity tracker or smartphone app – because it supports many brands) to the online tool, which follows the simple approach to count steps that are then visible on a personal dashboard. More importantly, employees/teams can create groups and launch activity challenges to motivate each other to move and to help find their own way to develop a healthy lifestyle. Run Your Way also showcases how SAP technology and innovations (like IoT) can support our vision to “help the world run better and improve people’s lives”. Here are some results since the program was launched in June 2017: Approximately 8,600 subsidies were paid out to colleagues globally for buying activity trackers [subsidy budget fully consumed]. As of today, more than 9,000 colleagues have connected their device to the Fit@SAP platform from more than 65 countries, but this number is continuously increasing. And over 600 groups and 400 activity challenges have been created by employees and teams. In June we launched a global activity challenge inviting all colleagues to move for their health and the planet. As a result, more than 1.3 billion steps were cumulated, which equates to completing more than 24 times around the world! With this great achievement, we exceeded our goal and contributed to planting 30,000 trees in collaboration with Plant-for-the-Planet… If you want to read more – refer to the article from Natalie Lotzmann: 5 Tips To Get Your Employees Moving – Sustainably. What’s next? In 2017 we successfully raised awareness on the importance of moving and the benefits of using activity trackers. As we look towards 2018, the focus is on keeping the momentum and growing users of Fit@SAP, which will be supported by: 1- Local/regional initiatives will play a big role in keeping employees engaged and motivated… We are identifying enablers in various locations to support the creation of groups and challenges. 2- Launching new global activity challenges through out the year, with 2 global challenges planned per year 3- Continuously growing the platform functionalities based on employee feedback. More than 10% of all SAP employees worldwide participated so far!
