Events Organized by the Host Country 1. Goal Events that realize the theme of the Yeosu Expo, “the Living Ocean and Coast,” and appeal to visitors’ cultural and artistic sensibilities Realizing and continuing the theme Fun and welcoming Active exchange of diverse cultures Recreating and experiencing the oceans and maritime culture Leave the Expo’s cultural and artistic contents as a legacy

Events Organized by the Participating Countries II. Events Organized by the Participating Countries 1. Official events and performances on National Day Period: one day per nation - except opening day (May 12), Host Country’s National Day (August 1), BIE day (August 11) and closing day (August 12) Venue: Multi-purpose Hall, but each nation can choose the venue depending on the nature of the performance Program guidelines 1. Official events and performances on National Day Period: one week per nation -except opening day (May 12), Host Nation Day (August 1), BIE day (August 11) and closing day (August 12) Venue: multi-purpose performance hall, but each nation can choose the venue depending on the nature of the performance Program guidelines Cultural performances that represent the nation in question while highlighting the theme and goals of the Yeosu Expo Cultural performances with the characteristics of Official Participant in sync with the Theme and goals of the Yeosu Expo

1. Official events and performances on National Day Application deadline: April 30 for official events and June 30 for cultural performances Expenses: covered by the Official Participant 2. Additional events Cultural performances in other than the National Day event during a designated period (less than one week) Performances related to the “ocean,” utilizing the ocean or Floating Stage are preferably considered Application deadline: June 30. Refer to the rules and regulations for the National Day events Official events and performances on National Day Application deadline: April 30 for official events and June 30 for cultural performances -The performance date is assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis Expenses: borne by the nation concerned 2. Additional performance events -The participating nations can stage cultural performances in addition to their performances on National Day during a designated period -Performances that are related to the “ocean” or that utilize the ocean or water stage are preferred -Application deadline: June 30. The rules and regulations regarding additional performances are the same as those applied to the National Day events.

Pre-EXPO Conferences on the theme of the Expo International Symposium - Held by the Organizing Committee for the development and promotion of the theme of the Expo 4 symposiums held until 2010 4 symposiums scheduled in 2011 Support for local and international conferences on the theme of the Expo - To build support for the Expo at home and abroad and enhance public awareness about the theme of the Expo 9 conferences supported until 2010 (6 in 2009, 3 in 2010) 4 conferences scheduled in 2011 Major Academic Conferences during the Expo International Academic Conferences for expansion of the theme of the Expo & quality exhibition

Weekly Conferences 3. Conferences during the Expo period Overview Conferences on an ocean-related topic every week for the general public during the Expo period Open forum (5) : for college students and others in related-field - Lectures given by specialists affiliated with the OECD and other oceanography-related international bodies and well-known lecturers - Symposiums to be held jointly with OECD, FAO and other international bodies

Target-tailored forum: for college students and others related to the topic - Educational program that utilizes the Yeosu mascot characters Yeony and Suny - Writing contests, poetry reciting, etc. Workshop (5 times): for children and adolescents - Ocean Academy (quiz contests on the ocean and coast), fishing village experience programs (Sea Scouts, etc.), etc.
