AFT attenuator test During the first operations we have found some problems with the attenuator; During the e-meter work period we start some test on the attenuator. Review SPARC 17-07-2007
STATUS of the waveguide power attenuators ● The attenuators have been intensely power tested. ● The design power levels have not been achieved. ● Internal discharges occurred at about 10 ÷ 15 MW input power ● Discharges take place in the circulator section that contains ferrite bars. ● This could be due to excessive outgassing rate of the ferrites under high RF power operation. ● Two units have been already delivered back to the manufacturer ● A meeting with the manufacturer is foreseen next week in Germany S-band waveguide attenuator Review SPARC 17-07-2007
