Why a Strategic Plan? Large expected population and employment growth in North Texas region Severe and growing congestion not solvable through roadway improvements alone Negative air quality effects of high auto use and congestion Need for affordable transportation alternatives Ensure positive economic impact of transit to community Over 10 million people in region by 2035. Tomorrow in your Neighborhood Operate a modern streetcar system to serve the central core of Fort Worth Develop flexible, on-demand services in low density areas to efficiently meet demand Create car sharing & bicycle rental programs at transit centers to improve access
Enhancements for Tomorrow Significantly increase number of passenger shelters and benches throughout service area Improve perceived and actual safety and security on vehicles and at stations Coordinate with other providers in region to create seamless regional system
Technology for Tomorrow Improve information on services and implement online trip planning Provide real-time data on services at transit facilities, online, and through smartphones Reduce emissions/improve fuel economy of transit vehicles through new technologies
