Counseling Psychology Dehai Watkins

Definition A psychological specialty that facilitates personal and interpersonal functioning across the life span of an individual Focuses on social, vocational, emotional, educational, health-related, developmental, and organizational concerns.

How they help patients? Counseling Psychologist are considered to be generalist they are trained in a wide variety of therapeutic skills. Improve their overall well-being and alleviate distress. Attend to both normal developmental issues and problems associated with physical, emotional, and mental disorders.

Origin Became main-stream after the Second World War. Schools of therapy are Psychoanalytical, Behaviourist, and Humanistic.

The Role of Behaviour/Experience Counseling Psychology falls under this role because it targets the patient and their overall state which influences there surroundings.(family, friends etc.)
