Government, Business or PROS CONS FUNDING Government, Business or Charitable Grant Opportunity to start the partnership Time limited funding Enough money to deliver the job coach role securely for a fixed period Works against sustainability Does not depend on local policies or relationships Delays changing long term policy and commitment

FUNDING PROS CONS Local Municipal Other Existing Education Opportunity to change expectations and better job results for people with intellectual disabilities over time Municipal Always open to policy changes and cut backs so needs ongoing communications and marketing by all partners Other Existing Education Safest if mainstream annual allocation Positively affects employment targets And Supported Employment Open to changes in policy and cutbacks Can create dominant partner who becomes more powerful

What have we learned so far? Can start where ever you are - Portugal Partnership working is key – relationship, trust, shared resources Important to keep trying to achieve real co-production and systems change – honoring partners, helping each other Hard but worth it – 66% success in the UK where national average is <7% – Over 650 full time paid jobs since 2010
