University Housing Sustainability Jane B. Diener Sustainability Coordinator Fall Training 2017

University Housing Sustainability Provide learning opportunities for students that will enhance their time living on campus and allow them to move on from their college experiences as more informed environmental stewards. Provide resources and training for staff to serve as role models in the wise stewardship of natural resources and practice of everyday environmentally relevant behavior. Work as a community to limit resource consumption and overall environmental impact.

Sustainability 101 What are some words that come to mind? “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” – 1987 Brundtland Report (inspired by Pinchot, 1910) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle… in that order! Triple Bottom Line/Three Pillars/Nested Model (Elkington, 1997; Adams, 2006; Farley, 2014)

Three Components
