FRQ 1: Region 9/13 Bellringer: Think about the border region between the US and Mexico. Write one paragraph in which you describe the border region. What makes that a region? What different TYPES of regions can be used to describe the Border? Can you use all three types of regions to define the Border? How? Why?

FRQ – Free Response Question On the exam – there will be 3 FRQ and you will have 75 min to complete them. FRQs often ask multiple questions. YOU MUST ANSWER EACH QUESTION and EACH PART OF EACH QUESTION.

By what criteria can you define the border region? Functional? (economic? Nodes? Broadcasts?) Formal? (language? Political borders?) Vernacular? (identity?)
