Our project mission Improve care by making patient data accurate and available for clinicians Emergence of better informed, more choices, and empowered patients Emphasis on preventive care rather than just cure Shift in alternative care models to reduce costs Increase in shared IT services for clinics and hospitals There is an emergence of better informed and empowered patients due to mobile devices and social media with greater opportunity to choose, creating competition and alternative communication channels Growing availability of intelligent analysis and management tools for patient and medical information is leading to a paradigm shift with growing emphasis on wellness and prevention care rather than just cure for both Providers and Payers, increasing the need for information access Due to cost pressures there is a shift in alternative care models from the costly hospital inpatient setting which now needs information technology to support and needs to be integrated back into the continuum of care. The lines continue to blur between healthcare Providers and Payers due to mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and new business opportunities Large Payers are moving to become technology suppliers to Providers and/or others for such applications as care management and wellness in addition there is an increase in Provider to Provider shared services © Copyright 2013 EMC Corporation.
