Jesus Meets Devotion Luke 18.18-30

The Man

His Question

Jesus’ Answer Scratches the Surface Digs Deeper Almost Unfair

Jesus looks at the Heart Luke 16.13 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Luke 12.34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

E. Earle Ellis Jesus always requires from one just that earthly security upon which one would lean.

Jesus Meets Devotion Luke 9.23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

The Big Question

Jesus Meets Devotion The Rich Ruler v. The Disciples

Jesus costs everything… but it is worth it
