SYSTEM STRUCTURE

SYSTEM STRUCTURE…

FUNCTIONS OF DMIS Data bank for identified persons with disabilities Facilitate Identification of persons with disabilities Needs assessments on persons with disabilities Recording and follow up on progress on significant change Production of statistical analytical reports

DMIS AS M&E TOOL Produces analysed reports Segregated according to age, gender, sex, district, disability, traditional authority, assistance rendered etc. Information gathered is regarded as a baseline for the following year Measures what has been done against what was planned in the previous years.

DMIS AS M&E TOOL…. Compares different CBR components Informs To indicate which component is doing better that the other in terms of activities Informs Planning and preparation for the subsequent year Resource allocation to different components and activities for the year Decision support - development partners and other stakeholders

ACHIEVEMENTS DMIS successfully implemented in 22 of the 28 districts in Malawi Incorporated on the MACOHA website Reports are viewed online by all Instant updates are implemented Model for CBR Programmes in other countries Zambia CBR developing its DMIS informed by the Malawi DMIS

ACHIEVEMENTS CONTINUED… Capacity building for Community volunteers and Cadres in CBR districts done 6 District/Local Councils aware of DMIS

CHALLENGES Data collection and capturing is slow Data capturing centralized Capacity gaps between volunteers of the CBR and non CBR districts Only MACOHA Community Volunteers trained Most district councils not aware of the DMIS

FUTURE PLANS District councils to be made aware and share data on Persons with Disabilities   Decentralization of data capturing process at district level District officers and other stakeholders to have internet enabled gadgets to directly capture data as it is being collected

CONCLUSION DMIS Efforts being made to roll out in the country Improved data capture Analysis and production of reports Facilitated capacity building of Community Volunteers Non CBR districts have capacity challenges Highly recommended by Government of Malawi and development partners Efforts being made to roll out in the country
