Breakout Session I 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Administration & Counseling: 105 Executive Conference Room College Preparatory Course Promotion & Updates HCC College Readiness leadership presents updates in the College Preparatory Course legislation and facilitates dialogue on CPC promotion in the schools. English: Auditorium ELA Unit Design & Assignment Round Tables Includes assignment ideas for English courses spanning College Prep. Course, INRW, Dual Credit 1301, ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302, and college-ready soft-skills. Math: C108 Texas Success Center’s HB5 College Preparatory Math Course Participants will discuss the possibility of implementing this course, which utilizes multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in the study of other disciplines.

Breakout Session II 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. English: Auditorium From Critical Reading to Analytical Writing An interactive workshop exploring the pedagogical strategies to foster critical reading and the next steps to analytical writing in the English classroom. Math: Auditorium: High School Problem Strings Pamela Harris will lead participants in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus problem strings, series of related problems purposefully sequenced to help students construct mathematical relationship.
