How to search/browse students Using the Browse Option – Click on one of the links to execute specific, single-criteria searches. You can search by First letter of Last Name Grade level Gender Current Enrollment Current Selection
Search for… …all student in the __ grade …all the male students … all the student whose last name begins with the letter ____ Re-select the current selection …all enrolled

Field/Value Searching Suppose you would like to find all of the students in your school whose first name is Timothy.
Field/Value Searching Every search command line is broken into three parts: field name - such as first_name or grade_level or DOB comparator - such as = search argument - in the example, Timothy is the search argument – what I want to find The general format is: [field name] [comparator] [search argument]
Field/Value Searching Suppose you would like to find all of the students in your school whose first name is Tim. Type the following into the search box: first_name=timothy [field name] [comparator] [search argument]
Field/Value Searching Using the Search option (field/value) PowerSchool stores student information in fields. For example: "first_name" field stores the students' first names. The "DOB" filed stores the students' date-of-birth.

How to Search by Birthday To find a student or students that have a birthday on a specified date, use the *birthday search code. This code is always preceded with an asterisk. Birthdays (today) *birthday=today Finds all students whose birthday is today, matching only month and day. Birthdays (date) *birthday=5/1 Find all students whose birthday is May 1 Birthdays (range) *birthday>=5/1/99;*birthday<=5/31/99 Find all birthdays in May of 1999
¨ Displaying Inactive students – “/” Include non-active students. Use this “/” prefix to search across ALL students (ie, active and inactive). Example /Last_Name=Smith
Stored Searches
How to Store Frequently Used Search Commands You can store frequently-used searches instead of entering the same search command every time that you need to work with a particular group of students. After a search is stored, all other users on the same PowerSchool server can use all the stored searches listed on the stored search page.
Stored Searches From the Start Page, click on Stored Searches Click New.
