THEME 1: Facing Challenges Fourth Grade Week 2 Day 1

Read Aloud Genre: Biography (A true story about the life of a real person) Biographies include: information about why the person is important Opinions and judgments based on facts Events from the person’s life, told in time order This biography is about a famous woman swimmer. One purpose for listening is to find out why this swimmer was remarkable. Teacher Reads Be a Friend on page T28. Use the Interact with Text prompts that align with the numbers 1, 2 ,3

Focus Skill Character’s Traits and Motivations Let’s look over workbook pg 8.

Reread the story and complete PB 8.

Comprehension Strategy Use Story Structure Setting Characters Setting Plot Events MODEL: Read aloud story on Transparency R3 then MODEL with the think aloud how to use the graphic organizer.
