Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is both a theory of the human mind and a therapeutic practice. It was founded by Sigmund Freud between 1885 and 1939. Associates: Anna Freud, Adler, Erickson. And it continues to be developed by psychoanalysts all over the world.

Psychoanalysis is an effective therapy for dealing with mental disorders, and has been proven to be effective. In 1896, Freud coined the term "psychoanalysis". And for the next forty years of his life, he worked on thoroughly developing its main principles, objectives, techniques, and methodology.

Disadvantages It's based on Freud's theory of personality. If his theory is flawed, then the therapy must be flawed too. Freud ignored individual differences. Critics claim that some therapists are not helping patients recover repressed memories. Instead, they are planting 'false memories' into their patients' minds.
