Reflection question for aice media studies Morgan Botknecht

Question 1 How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Answer To Question 1 An inspirational genre influences the viewers to feel happy when watching the video. I think this is the genre and main purpose of our music video. The happy, and loud music fits the characteristic of this genre. The typical standards of inspirational videos give off a very optimistic view of the world. My project does not represent any social groups or issues. It rather focuses on feelings and concepts.

Question 2 How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Answer To Question 2 My project includes many video clips of different places including parks, awareness walks, and even animals. I think these are all very unique things that we included in the project, that nobody else did. I think all the clips we recorded relate to the common person, this causes the audience to enjoy watching the video. The really incredible parts of the video would be the editing, it was edited very well and the music, along with the quality and timing of the recorded clips looked great. Audiences will be able to see this video because we can easily post it to YouTube. This way, anyone with internet access around the world can watch our video.

Question 3 How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Answer To Question 3 Since I first began filmmaking, I have learned a lot about how to record, and how to edit. I recognized what shots would be the best to capture for the right moment of a specific project. I have learned how to time the shots perfectly, how to edit clips and songs, and even how to properly record a video clip so it can be used for the project. I truly love to record and edit the video clips and watch it all come together as a final video. I dislike how long it takes to edit video clips to make an entire video. It is a lot of effort but it is for sure worth it. I have always been undecided for my career, but being in this class and filmmaking makes me want to be a professional filmmaker or photographer. Careers I would never want do not have anything to do with filmmaking. I love the process. As a filmmaker, I have been able to experience a lot by filmmaking. I have been able to go to a lot of interesting places, and overall filmmaking is a lot of fun.

Question 4 How did you integrate technologies software, hardware and online in this project?

Answer To Question 4 We used final cut pro, an incredible editing software to edit our film. I have learned how to input a song, cut it to the right time, upload the clips I filmed and input them into the film. Overall I have learned really good editing skills and how to make a great video.
