Mrs. Perl’s Kindergarten News Week of October 10, 2016 Academic Vocabulary Words: In this section you will find “big” words that we have been using our class discussions. responsible expectations character vertical lines horizontal lines diagonal lines ELA This year we are using the Common Core Learning Standards. The Skills Strand is used in our instruction of ELA (English Language Arts) Standards. Sight Words: New: see, go Review: I, can, we, the, like, a Letter Sounds New: /m/, /a/, /t/ Skills: We will work on blending together sounds to build words. Listening: We will be listening to stories about fire safety. Writing: Students be writing using the words see, go. We will work on using finger spaces between our words. We will also be working on the correct formation of the letters m, a, and t. Common Core Math Module 1: Objectives… Students will be able to: *break apart (decompose) the numbers 6, 7, and 8 *identify and show 7, 8, & 9 objects in different configurations (in a line, in a circle, or scattered). Science/Social Studies Students will: continue learning about fire safety. *Please talk to your child about your family’s meeting place. !
