HAZARD A dangerous condition or event that threats or has the potential for causing injury to life or damage to property or the environment. Types – a) Natural b) Man made

DISASTER A serious disruption in the functioning of the society causing widespread material, economic, social or environmental losses which exceed the ability of the affected society to cope using its own resources. VULNERABILITY The extent to which a community, structure, service or geographic area is likely to be damaged or disrupted by the impact of particular hazard on account of their nature, construction & proximity to hazardous terrain or a disaster prone area.

Vulnerability, Disaster & Management Vulnerability Disaster Hazard Expected Loss= Hazard X Vulnerability capability Management- is a process to restore the prevalent conditions before the disaster.
