Before you start writing your research paper TITLE: Always center your title; DO NOT bold or underline it. FONT: Times New Roman, 12 point for all papers. MARGINS: Go to “Page Layout” tab and create the margins “NORMAL.” This means that you now have 1” margins all around your page. SPACING: To make sure you have double spacing, go to the “Page Layout” tab, find the small arrow in the bottom right in the Paragraph box, and click on SPACING to make sure the before and after numbers are both at zero. Go to Line spacing and scroll down until you find “Double.” Click on this. HEADER: Go to “Insert” tab, click on “Page Number”. Choose the option that says, “Top of Page,”then go to the third one down that states, “Plain Number 3”. The cursor is just in front of the number on the right-hand side of the page. Type your last name in front of the page number 1. Put a space between your name and the number 1. Now you are all set for numbering your pages.   WORKS CITED PAGE: Make sure your title is centered. Place work here. (From copying and pasting, databases, Easy Bib or from the OWL template). To create a hanging indent, you need to: Go to the “View” tab and check the “ruler” box. Highlight the text where you want to add a hanging indent. Select the little arrow on the right in the PARAGRAPH box. Go to SPECIAL, and choose “Hanging” from the drop down list. Make sure your default indent is .5 inches.
