Curriculum Night September 14th, 2017.

Reminders Please check folders daily. The only papers that should be returned to the folder are those requiring signature. * Please sign or initial the behavior charts. Remember to send a change of clothes! Birthdays Big birthday celebrations are not allowed at Smith. Take home treats are an option.

Literacy Rotations Our literacy program is a comprehensive, research based process which includes: Guided Reading Writing Word Study Literacy Block: 1 hour per day!

Reading

Writing Practice letters/words taught in word study. Use family words to write a sentence. Use a graphic organizer to help students create sentences. Use journal. Model what good writing looks like. We do NOT edit every writing piece and spelling mistake.

Writing

What can you do at home? Keep working on reading skills like recognizing sounds, letters, high frequency words and counting numbers 1-100. Remember to practice writing skills too. Ask comprehension questions after reading. What happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story?
