We are Astronauts Learning Objectives: I can open Scratch I can create a space sprite and make it point to the right I can save my work If they didn’t do this last week, use the instructions below to create a Favourites Bookmark for Scratch. Support target: Once children have reached this screen, tell/show them how to click on the Bookmark Star, top right. It should then show this screen (folder – Other bookmarks) and click Done. This will mean they can access the program quickly.

Starting in Scratch 1. Open Google Chrome 2. Type in Scratch and choose Scratch.mit.edu – Scratch Imagine, Program ,Share 3. Click on Create Explain the stage, backgrounds and the sprites (characters). Explain that the background and sprites can be changed to be anything the pupils want. Click on File, Upload from my computer. You should see the backdrop you made last week.

Create your sprite 1 1. First draw your sprite with the paintbrush. Try to make it point to the right. 2. Next, colour your spaceship with the Fill tool and Brush tool. 3. Then click on Select tool (hand) and draw a box round your spaceship 4. Use the little circle at the top if you need to turn your spaceship. 5. Use the squares at the corner of the box to make your sprite smaller enough to fit on your earth.

I can save my sprite and backdrop 1. Move your spaceship onto your earth. 2. Click on File at the top of the page. 3. Choose Download to your computer. 4. Click Documents and open your file. Type in your name and Space 2 then click Save e.g. Mrs Bartlett Space 2
