Welcome to Arnold H. McLeod School Music 2017-2018 Special Events: Mrs. K. Berry Room 120 Music Grades 3-5 Kelly.berry@nbed.nb.ca Students in grades 3-5 visit the Music Room once a week for 60 minutes. During this time students engage in a variety of musical activities including singing, playing rhythm instruments, listening exercises, movement, and theory based games. Students must participate in small/large group and individual assessments where they will create, connect, and communicate with music. The main themes for each term are as follows: Term 1: Rhythms; Term 2: Melodies; Term 3: Recorder Special Events: Student Expectations: Our annual Holiday Concert will be held on Thursday December 14th. This year we will be celebrating music from memorable holiday movies! Our classes and clubs will be performing. Make good choices Use Kind Words Show respect to peers, teachers & music. Night of the Arts is on Thursday May 3rd, 2018. Our choirs, glee club and dance clubs will all perform during this evening when we celebrate “Our Favourites’. Involve yourself Care for our room and instruments. Clubs: A little something about the teacher: 3-5 Choir- Students in grades 3-5 can join choir 3 times a year: Remembrance Day, Holiday Concert, and Night of the Arts. Practices will be held at noon. More details coming soon! Mrs. Berry grew up in Miramichi, NB. She has 2 children: Ben (age 5), and Brady (19 months). When she was young she loved to sing, dance, play instruments and perform. She has earned her B.A., B.Ed, and Advanced Certificate in Resource Education. This is her 5th year at Arnold H. McLeod School and she feels lucky to work with such wonderful staff and students! Glee Club – Students in grades 4 & 5 are welcome to join our glee club – no previous experience required! This singing and dancing club runs all year long and performs at our holiday concert and for Night of the Arts. We will be starting in late September and practices will be held after school. Listen to the announcements for more details! Dance Club – At AHM we have two dance clubs: grades 2-3, and grades 4-5. These clubs will begin in February and more information will be available in the new year.
