Children of the Holocaust By Kelly Nickel-Dubin

Holocaust Scenes #1 Quarantine Block- What the survivor said really shocked me. If I was the survivor and saw something that I wasn't allowed to see and I was able to survive off of it, it would make me mad. The dark area looks like a cage. What are the poles in the ground used for?

Holocaust Scenes #2 Cremation Pit- SCARY! Everything's dead What's left there in the grass?

Holocaust Scenes #3 China Bowls- They use those bowls for everything?! NOT SANITARY! Does each person get their own bowl? Shocked!!! I chose this image to put in my PBS documentary because when I first looked at it, I was shocked! Coming from a chef and seeing those bowls, I am grossed out. Did they use those bowls for EVERYTHING? Would they eat and then go to the bathroom in them. I don’t know if they had bathrooms. I think that's why some of the people there died from disease. They were eating their own feces and maybe others. That image just caught my eye!

Eva Beem Was born May 21, 1932 in Leeuwarden, Holland Happy child Went into hiding Had to pose as a non-Jew in a rural village Was given a new name and identity She was known as Linni de Witt Has a younger brother named Abraham She was 11 when she was found and denounced a Jew in February 1944 Jewish Went to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland She and her brother were found, brought to the camps, and then murdered upon arrival

First They Came For The Jews Poems of Children #1 First They Came For The Jews By Martin Niemoller First they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for the Communists Because I was not a Communist

Poems of Children #2 Then they came for the Trade Unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Trade Unionist Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me

Power of Music #1 The song that I chose to put in my documentary is Auschwitz and Birkenau from the movie Schindler's List. I chose that song because I think it's beautiful. The song is from a movie about the holocaust and the song is named Auschwitz and Birkenau from the camps. What I have learned about music during the holocaust was People wrote a song about the gas chambers

Power of Music #2 Red Cross loved the song but the commander of the Nazi's didn't so he burned the whole cast and crew in the gas chambers The power of music influenced the children by making everyone happy and made them stop being sad for a second.

Art By Children About Children #1 My Turn by Sheila Lefeovre-I think My Turn is about someone saying it's their turn to die. I chose this painting because it called out to me. It called out to me from the colors. I got this image from Imagine 1 Art Gallery.

Art By Children About Children #2 Angel by anonymous-What I think Angel is about is a person coming to kill a Jewish boy that's behind a gate. I chose this painting because it’s dark and I like dark. This image called out to me from the gray figure in the back. I got this image from Imagine 1 Art Gallery.
