How to measure and analyze traffic noise? Dr. Abul Kalam al Azad

Work Plan

Sources of Road Noise Vehicle noise Engine, exhaust, acceleration, stop-and-go traffic condition, etc. Road noise Frictional noise between tires and road surface Driver behaviour Horns, loud music, shouting, etc. Construction and maintenance Presence of noisy and heavy machinery

decibel (dB)

Modeling Factors Vehicular Type

Distance of the receptor

Position of the Receptor

Traffic Volume

Speed

So on and so forth …

To do … We intend to develop a mathematical model to fit the noise data. Computer analyses and virtual experiments will be carried out based on the model.

A Proposed Model Q : Traffic volume in vehicles per hour d: The distance from observation point to centre of the traffic lane A, B and C are coefficients are to be derived for the investigated area by linear regression method based on LdB data taken at different traffic flows Q and distances d.

To Gain… Noise Forecasting Mobile App Urban Planning
