Go Green, Go World! By: Magaly Contreras

The Political Party I most identify with is The Green The Political Party I most identify with is The Green. Because it cares about the world and our health and that’s the things we have to care about .

Green Background history The Green Party of the the united States began as the Association of the State Green parties. The ASGP was formed after the 1196 elections to fill a void in national Green politics and to help existing state parties develop.

Green Logo The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article.

Political Spectrum The Green Party is between radical and liberal.

Political Party Platform The Green Party has a broad platform that ranges from protecting the environment to our blue-green pro-labor agenda to human rights and social justice.

Political Issues Non-violence: “we will work to demilitarize, and eliminate weapons of mass destruction, without being naive about the intentions of other governments”. I agree because weapons are causing a lot of disaster around the world. Respect For Diversity: “we believe it is important to value cultural, ethnic, racial, sexual, religious and spiritual diversity, and to promote the development of respectful relationships across these lines. I agree because everyone has the right to do anything they want with their lives.

Domestic Policy issue Initiate a one-trillion dollar community-based grant-in-aid program from the national government to local communities. These funds will be channeled through collaborative arrangements between state and local governments. They will require maximum feasible participation in governance by all parts of each local community receiving these grants. Also required is a 5% matching grant from each participating local community.

Foreign Policy Issue We reaffirm the right of self-determination for both Palestinians and Israelis, which precludes the self-determination of one at the expense of the other. We recognize the historical and contemporary cultural diversity of Israeli-Palestinian society, including the religious heritage of Jews, Christians, Muslims and others. We support equality before international law rather than appeals to religious faith as the fair basis on which claims to the land of Palestine-Israel are resolved.

Economic Policy Issue Reduce spending by $1T; increase taxes by $600B; cut debt. (Feb 2013) Increase debt ceiling & Commission on Fiscal Responsibility. (Sep 2011) As banks become profitable, start fundamental reforms. (Sep 2011) 1996: Accused of sweetheart deal on sale of personal home. (Oct 2010) Obama’s economic plan focuses on middle class. (Oct 2008) Deregulation got us into the housing crisis. (Oct 2008) Balancing budget is about priorities; GOP made wrong choices. (Dec 2007) Save Pentagon spending by getting the troops out of Iraq. (Dec 2007) More transparency for hedge funds and private equity funds. (Aug 2007) Invest in new programs by ending war & eliminating tax cuts. (Apr 2007)

Health Care Issue Universal Single-Payer Healthcare for everyone in the US. (Jul 2008) Fund “Manhattan Project” for a cure for AIDS. (Jun 2004) Health care is a human right. (Jun 2000) Nationalize health care & ensure universal coverage. (Jun 2000)

Education Issue Greens support EDUCATIONAL DIVERSITY. We hold no dogma absolute, continually striving for truth in the realm of ideas. We view learning as a lifelong process to which all people have an equal right. Education starts with CHOICE and within public education we believe in broad choices. “Magnet schools,” “Site-based Management,” “Schools within Schools,” alternative models and parental involvement are ways in which elementary education can be changed to make a real difference in the lives of our children.

Important Issue For Me Personal and Global Responsibility. Greens demonstrate a commitment to global sustainability and international justice through political solidarity and in personal lifestyles based on self-sufficiency and living lightly.

Why People Should Enjoy This Party... Because it helps your future in the way that it cares about the environment, violence, abortion, education & the world.
