Past Simple – REGULAR verbs Find the verbs Last night I watched television. Yesterday I talked to my friend about something really important. Two years ago I visited my cousin in Italy. Last weekend we danced at the disco. The father tied his daughter’s shoelace. I worked in Paris for three months. The student asked the teacher a question. The boy cried after the basketball match.

Past Simple – REGULAR verbs How do we make regular verbs in the past tense? When do we use the past simple?

Past Simple – REGULAR verbs How do we make regular verbs in the past simple? We add ‘ed’ to regular verbs in the past simple. Example: Last night I watched television. If a verb ends in ‘e’ we add ‘d’. The father tied his daughter’s shoelace. If a verb ends in a vowel + ‘y’ we drop the ‘y’ and add ‘ied’. The boy cried after the basketball match.

Past Simple When do we use the past simple? We use the past simple for an action that happened in the past and is finished.

When we arrive at the restaurant, the place is full. 4. The waitress asks us if we have reservations. 5. I say, "No, my secretary forgets to make them." 6. The waitress tells us to come back in two hours. 7. My client and I slowly walk back to the car. 8. Then we see a small grocery store. 9. We stop in the grocery store and buy some sandwiches. 10. That is better than waiting for two hours.
